Sunshine month takes me away

We’re all going on a summer holiday
As I write this blog, the lads are loading the car, checking the oil and water in the engine. All I have to do now is to finish this, press send and then, as is my habit, check that the water bottles are full, back the car out of the drive and head for the horizon and the rising Sun. I love that feeling, the freedom of the open road and the wonder of not knowing what is around the next bend. I have Canned Heat playing in my head ‘...I’m on the road again’; it brings back so many good memories.

The dawn is such a magical time in all senses of the word. We use the image of the dawn to describe newness, breakthroughs, and new horizons: the dawn of the technical age, the dawn of the industrial society, the dawn of understanding. I see clients every day who experience that sense of coming into the light when, perhaps, for the first time in their lives, they can see things with a hitherto unknown clarity, as the truth dawns on them for the first time.

The person who is awake is always learning
In Ayurveda, my original training, it is acknowledged that the purpose of life is about learning, and that our body’s senses, mind and emotions are all designed to enable this to happen. Learning is a life-long process, though people may stop learning and growing at any age. Some people will cease development while in their childhood and may exhibit the emotional maturity of a seven-year old when they are seventy. However, the reverse may also be true, so that a seven-year old may possess the wisdom of a seventy-year old.

What is dawning on you?
If you are a growing, waking person, and I guess you are or you would not be reading this, there will be dreams, challenges and developments going on in your life that will represent new dawnings of understanding for you. I think about this a lot and review where I am up to. I use the contemplation part of my meditation sessions to do this, so dawnings are...

Time waits for no man
I often heard this one, but it is dawning on me that time passes quickly and it is easy to procrastinate; there are things that I want to do before I turn up my toes. I was reading something by Jack Canfield that suggested writing down the one hundred things you would like to do before you die. That got me thinking, so I have set myself some goals.

Things to be done

My top five are...

1) To develop my life and my relationships in such a way that they benefit not only me, but all those that I interact with, especially with my Rie.

2) To develop the courses so that I have at least one thousand people a year doing the Ten Steps Program

3) To get all the books written that I have in my head

4) To record more music albums and maybe do some performing

5) To create a purpose-built environmentally-friendly building that is used as a centre of learning, therapy and respite for those on the path of self-development

It dawned on me many years ago that the only way to achieve these things is to be focussed on the task and to be consistent and persistent in all that I do to achieve my aims.

What are your five?

You may be able to go for the hundred, though five is a good start. What are the things that it is dawning on you that need to be done? It is time to get them done. Try not to put off till tomorrow what you need to get done today.

Hey ho and away I go
But task number one is to go and enjoy my holiday. Tomorrow, I will wake in Lille France and then heading down through Belgium, Luxemburg and Switzerland to stay in Basil. Then the Italian lakes for a while and then back up through Mont Blanc and Dijon. Watch the site and I’ll keep you posted on progress and try and use this wonderful technology to post some pics on the site.

So pop by Wednesday and have a wonderful week.

Universal love

Love month – Universal love

I had a hoot with the messages about knickers following the last blog, you are all so funny, and, by the way, I will not be wearing them as a hat.  How is your love going?  The feedback so far is that the blogs this month are making people think and review their relationships and their lives.  It warms my heart when I get a message saying, ‘Thank you for that, I now realise how lucky I am and what I do have’, that’s great to hear.

A while ago, I became known as ‘The People Person’ and we decided to us as a bit of a tag line.  You know I love people, I love their minds and their emotions, I am warmed by their spirit and I want to heal their hurts and tend to their wounds and do what I can to take us from the negativity of selfishness of self-interest to the universal love of selflessness.  I am not going for the hair shirt award.  I live a world of richness that I want everyone to have and share, and in that I am with Harv Eker and Bob Proctor.  It is often only through richness that we are able to help others and in the West, you, my friend, are a very rich person, even if you believe that you are not.

There is a love that transcends all

This is love beyond love, some might call it the love of God; Biblically it is termed ‘the love that passeth all understanding’.  To me, this is the power of all that is and all that ever will be.  It is the one thing that, when we find it within us and we live it without us, we create heaven on Earth, and we could right now.

The love in all things

I have spent my life studying the Law of Attraction and at the same time I have spent my time listening to people talking about their own habits of destruction.  The power of attraction happens and operates at all levels of existence all the time; it is that which holds the universe, in every aspect, together.  If for a moment it reverses, as in a nuclear explosion, when the attractive forces of the atom are turned into repulsion, it will, after a short period of time, revert to the Law of Attraction.  The particles that are ripped asunder in the explosion soon begin to associate with other particles to recreate the atoms that they were before Einstein’s mathematics pulled them apart.

We are all together

That Law of Attraction happens within us all the time.  It is the force that keeps us together, keeps us coherent and maintains our personality and our perspective.  This attractive force, beyond us as individuals, draws us together in bonds with other people, family, friends, colleagues, compatriots, nationalities and, at its best, as the entire human race, or better still, all of creation.  In universal love, we move beyond the possessive love of relationships as we begin to understand that all is one, you are me and we are all together; I’m sure that is in a Beatles’ song somewhere.

All wars end

Just like the atoms, even when we are ripped apart by hatred, we eventually return to the natural states of co-operation and love.  Warring parties, whether as armies or couples, never believe this.  They justify their stance in life with righteous indignation, believing that God is on their side and they have an inalienable right to act as they do, whether it is the concentration camps, which were actually started by the British during the Boer Wars; the destruction of Jews, and more, by the Nazis; or the subsequent treatment of Palestinians by the Israelis; or the implausible invasion of Iraq, through to the camp in Guantanamo Bay.  In the end, it all will become the past and a page in someone’s history book, a legend told by a mother to her sleepy children at bedtime.  In the end, it all passes and people learn to love, let go and forgive.  In awareness, human beings learn that they have a choice and can actively make their world better right now; that is what my work and my life is about.

Universal love is infinitely patient

Doesn’t matter where you look, the human heart-mind will always grow big enough to heal the wounds, however long it takes.  One of the things about universal love is that it is infinitely patient.  The universe does, literally, have all the time in the world and we can suffer for as long as we wish to.  It is universal love that solves all, and hatred, however much we justify it, that destroys everything, but only until the forces of love come back into play.

The free will of love

Universal time is infinite, just as universal love is infinite.  There is no time limit on you or anyone else coming to the understanding that love solves all.  I guess the limit is how much do you need to suffer the pain of your negativity or hate?  It has taken over two hundred years for the opposing factions of the Catholic and Protestant communities in Northern Ireland to begin to talk and put down their weapons.  All disputes of ethnicity and religiosity are resolved in the end, the choice for humanity is, how long are we prepared to wait and suffer?

How long does it take?

How long does it take for the rich white world to embrace the black world as equal?

How long does it take for fat-bellied over-weight world to decide to feed the hungry?

How long does it take for the rich world to fund the poor world?

How long does it take for women to have the same rights as men?

How long does it take until (fill in the blank)?

All that stops us from creating heaven on earth is us and our natural tendencies of fear, distrust and self-interest.  All we need is love.

So what should you do?

On all my courses, coaching and therapy, I start with the same thing.  Not because I am boring, but because this is the starting point.

Go back to this morning.  There you are in bed, warm and rested.  Something happened that brought you into consciousness.  It may have been an alarm, a child, a partner, a pet, whatever it was, what was your first thought?

Now if it was, ‘Oh God, not again’, I can assure, with 100 percent certainty, that you will have a crappy day and I can promise you that if you do the same thing day after day, you will have a crappy life.

Now if it was, ‘Wow, another day; how good is it to be alive?’ then I can promise you with 100 percent certainty that you will have a fabulous day, and I can promise you that if you do the day thing day after day you will have a fabulous life.

Your expectations will always be fulfilled

What you think about, you bring about, thoughts become things, what you hold in your Bindhi will come to pass, energy flows where attention goes.  The magic of experience is that consciousness is a self-fulfilling prophecy.  We decide whether life is good or bad.  It does not matter what happens to us, even to the direst and awful of situations, that is not the point. The point is, how do you respond?   Because we do have a choice and in choosing, we either create heaven or hell; what do you choose?  Because you can start right now feeling happy, if you expect happiness, you will find happiness, and if you don’t know how, come on a course of mine or find a course near you, get books, listen to CDs, find the people that can show you how.  Go to your library, search the net, ask you friends and you will find the support that you need; you will attract it to you.

Selfless love

I was humbled the other day when working with a little girl with Downs Syndrome; she had been in a car crash and had a little post-trauma.  She was such a loving person who was not inhibited by the intellectual restraints suffered by most of us.  I came away from the session smiling and reflecting on the irony of how she had been sent to me to help her feel better, and here I was having had her make me feel better.  I like to think that, in our sharing in that session, that we had shared that universal love that made us both feel better.  As she walked away from the session with her Mum, she was smiling and waving because she felt good, and so did I.  Win, win, as all relationships and interactions should be in our world every day.

So, I reckon this deserves a score of the love-o-meter.  How is your universal love?  Do you do the best that you can to make things better, pour oil on troubled water?  Are you a Good Samaritan able to cross the road to attend to the needs of another person despite their race, religion, age or gender?  Are you prepared to put yourself out for the good of other people?  Give yourself a score between selfishness and selflessness.

How about you see if you can do someone a good deed this week without asking for anything in return; a really selfless act.

So, I’m sending you all the love of the universe.

Have a wonderful time and wake with a smile and positive expectation.
