Time for a Mini Detox
As you know, I detox in both the autumn and the spring, but after Christmas and New Year, when I love to indulge, I feel the tightening of the waistband and I think “detox!” So here is my mini detox for this time of year.
Why detox?
Detoxing is a ritualistic way of breaking cycles and creating new beginnings. So the cycle I want to break is the over-indulgence. At the same time, it gets me to focus on what I do eat, my relationship with food and my relationship with myself.
Because up here in the Northern Hemisphere, it is cold, I do not go right down onto fluids. So, my mini detox is five days. To prepare for it, I cut down and then stop alcohol, tea and coffee and then eat only the following:
Day one: Cooked vegetables
Day two: Raw vegetables
Day three: Fruit
Day four: Raw vegetables
Day five: Cooked vegetables
The trick when detoxing is to eat as much as you want from the category of food for that day and drink plenty of water. After the five days slowly reintroduce tea, coffee and alcohol if you choose to.
My next main detox will be at the end of March 2010. This is a complete main system flush, body, mind, spirit and soul.
Take care
